31 Days of Local Food Cookbook Challenge:
WE WON !!!
designHouse Salon answered a challenge from Davines to submit a food recipe that used local and sustainable ingredients for consideration in a unique cookbook that celebrates 31 days of local food.
designHouse Salon approached Northern Quarter, one of their local favourite restaurants in the Hudson District area, to co-create a recipe using local ingredients inspired from the food used as an active ingredient in the Davines essentials line of shampoos and conditioners. They decided on a local champion of sustainability, the Ling Cod, as the main ingredient which earned its acknowledgment as a Slow Fish/Food ingredient, and locally sourced from Cowichan Bay Seafood.
After months of anticipation and deliberation, Davines formally awarded our recipe with 1st place honours from all their submissions in North America !!!
The book was then sent our as a holiday gift to over 150 VIP Davines clients and 80 of the top beauty, food and lifestyle publications and websites.
Why Davines and Slow Food ?
Built upon a perfect balance of beauty and sustainability, Davines is a family owned Italian haircare manufacturer that is committed to minimizing its environmental impact and enriching the sustainable culture of every community. By using ethically sourced natural ingredients in its production of haircare products at its eco-friendly headquarters in Parma, Italy. In keeping with their social responsibility commitments, Davines joined forces with The Slow Food Movement, a global, grassroots organization, founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, to source local food sources for the active ingredients in their essentials line of “Farm to Shower” haircare products which are sold at designHouse Salon, the flagship Davines concept salon on Vancouver Island.
